What Are Bucket Teeth Used For?

A tooth bar is a great tool for digging up tough dirt, rocks, roots and other materials that a loader bucket can't handle. Contractors and landscapers use them to dig trenches, remove tree stumps, clear brush and much more. A high-quality bucket tooth bar will give you an edge over the competition by enhancing your machine's ability to penetrate soil, grab and hold more debris, and reduce wear on your bucket.

Bucket teeth attach to a bucket shank, also called an adapter, and are fitted to excavators, backhoes, dozers and other earthmoving equipment. They are held in place with pins and a lock/retainer. An unreliable pin system is a major cause of bucket tooth loss, and the resulting downtime can be expensive for your company.

A good bucket tooth should have a self-sharpening profile to ensure it always bites into the ground correctly and retains its shape. A hard-face tungsten long-life coating is placed in specific areas to further enhance the hardness of the bucket tooth and extend its service life. The type of bucket tooth you choose depends on the application. For instance, a Tiger (TG) tooth is optimized for tough, tightly compacted soils and clay. A Fanggs (FD) tooth’s curved design improves bucket fill capacity and provides good penetration. And the Flare (FR) tooth is ideal for tasks that require a flat bottom bucket surface. All of these bucket teeth styles offer advantages for a wide range of applications.
